Smilax provides you with an 086 fax number, and converts all incoming faxes to an email attachment, sent to an email address of your choice (please read our Privacy Policy). To receive faxes via email is FREE! of charge!
This is how the Fax to Email service works:
Someone faxes a document to your 086 Fax to Email number
The fax is received by the Fax to Email server
The server processes the fax and emails it to your email address as a Tiff attachment
You receive the fax in your inbox just like any other email
Your computer doesn't have to be turned on to receive an UNLIMITED! number of faxes, and you can even receive up to 300 faxes simultaneously on a single Fax to Email number.
A fax of 10 full pages will be about 600KB in size (60KB per page).
Should you wish to send an email to a fax machine:
Enter "27(fax number)@vax.co.za" in the To field
Type your fax in the Body field of you email, or attach a document as you would with any other email
Send the fax just like any other email
Please Note: The fax number you enter in the To field must be in the international format of 27xxxxxxxxx@vax.co.za and not the local format of 0xxxxxxxxx@vax.co.za

You email a document to the recipients fax number
The email is received by the Email to Fax server
The server processes the email and faxes it to the recipients fax number
The recipients fax machine receives the fax just like any other fax
To send faxes via email, you simply purchase credits which deplete each time you send an email for conversion to faxing. You may choose to only receive faxes.
Please Note: In South Africa the cost of a fax is based on how far the recipient is from one of the fax network pops. That means that a person in Durban can fax a company in Gauteng and only pay 80c per minute if the recipient is within 50kms of Johannesburg. The same applies countrywide.

If the recipient lives outside of any main pop location, the price of fax delivery will be slightly higher based on the following fee structures:
